Loparex LLC announces closing of Dixon plant - Update
In January, 2007, Loparex announced the first phase of its capacity investment program which included the partial shut down of the Dixon operation and the addition of paper coating and film blowing capacity in the Hammond, Wisconsin, facility. At that time, coater 10 in Dixon continued to produce solvent and solventless release liner products, while extensive efforts were made to transition production to other manufacturing sites.
The phase two announcement in April, 2007, of a further shutdown was the result of on-going analysis of capacity, equipment capabilities and cost consolidation opportunities. It is announced today that production will cease permanently on August 31, 2007. Once the Dixon plant ceases production, coater 10 and other related equipment will be moved to the Eden, North Carolina, and Hammond, Wisconsin, facilities. Where possible, assistance has been provided to Dixon employees to secure other employment opportunities.
According to Jack Taylor, President of Loparex LLC, “With the acquisition of the Hammond facility, additional investments in paper coating and a second blown film line, Loparex, as the market leader, continues to demonstrate support of our customers and our commitment to the release liner industry.”
